The client required a concept design for a pool/alfresco/spa to the rear of the house. The design proposed an insertion of a series of concrete platforms and frames stretching out into the undulating landscape. The brief was to provide an open structure/stage that could be simply maintained, clothed and draped over, decorated to any number of themes. This project was a joint collaboration with another architect, Silvio Eckermann, who provided documentation for the project.
The ‘frames’ are arranged around a 6m x 12 m lap pool connecting the spa, showers, sun deck and alfresco. Deliberately left open to interpretation, they are to be filled with lanterns, curtains, cushions, ottomans, fire pits..to suit changing themes.
